In the early times of Franco, the only religion that had a legal status was Catholicism. If there was any other worship service, it could not be advertised or own property. This may be one of the things that made the Roman Catholic so well established in Spain. There was much controversy around the governments support for the Catholic Church.

In the present day however, there is freedom in Spain and one may profess the religion he so much desires.

Another thing that makes Spain’s religion an attraction is the fact that there are some areas in Spain that are considered as holy. These areas attract their share of pilgrims and tourists. There are many regions where the pilgrims desire to visit even once in a lifetime. The processions also attract the pilgrims.

There are old cathedrals in Spain that form part of the monuments in Spain thus attracting many tourists. Mosques that relate to the Moorish culture are also quite many and stand to date.
